Safa Ashoub is a senior sustainable development expert and researcher, specialized in urban development, with more than 14 years of professional experience.She has worked in several international development agencies such as the GIZ, UN Women and UN-Habitat as well as at the Cabinet of Ministers of Egypt. Her competencies are in the planning, managing and steering of sustainable development projects both in bilateral and multilateral agencies. Safa has years of in-depth expertise in the fields of urban development and governance, slum upgrading, participatory development, developing guidelines, methods and tools for different stakeholders, institutional and capacity development, climate change adaptation, community development, gender empowerment as well as monitoring and evaluation frameworks. She worked extensively with local authorities in the MENA region and she has a deep understanding of grass-roots community development with a special focus on participatory methods.
