Ms. Lina Ghassan Younis serves as Shelter Associate at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Amman-Jordan. She is responsible for the whole of the Shelter Sector at UNHCR Jordan, leading the update of sector-related SOPs, tools, and durable solutions. She is also the technical lead on Shelter & Monetized NFI For Refugee Camps, Sector Gender Focal Point, as well as partnerships and linkages focal point.Prior to her engagement with the United Nations, she had over 10 years of professional international experience working in the design and construction management of urban hubs, industrial and medical buildings, and private housing in Jordan and Germany. Ms. Younis holds an undergraduate degree in Architecture and Built Environment from German Jordanian University in Jordan, and a graduate degree in Global Urban Health from Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in Germany, and published research article titled “Housing structure including the surrounding environment as a risk factor for visceral leishmaniasis transmission in Nepal” under WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO-TDR), and co-author of “Role of female community health volunteers for visceral leishmaniasis detection and vector surveillance in Nepal”.
